Having the chance to own the first available model of any car these days is next to impossible but for Dodge Challenger fans it can become a reality.  Up for auction on Ebay is the First 2009 SMS 570 Dodge Challenger available to the public.  This Challenger is the 11th SMS 570 to roll off SMS supercars line.  The first 10 models produced are all owned by Steve Saleen making this one the first to go on sale to the public.  With only 100 slated for production in 2009 these will definitely be collectors items in the future.  To further make this car special Steve Saleen has signed the passenger side dash just above the SMS badge.

Over at AutoBlog Drew Phillips recently got the opportunity to take a tour of the Hurst Performance Vehicles headquarters in Irvine, California.  During the tour Drew got a chance to see how a stock Dodge Challenger is transformed into one of the limited edition Hurst Hemi Challengers.  Each of the Dodge Challengers goes through a variety of build stages including paint, suspension, interior, supercharger upgrades and wheels.  Drew took several high-res photos from start to finish at Hurst's facilities you can view here.  If you have a few minutes it's worth going through the photos which have a little description on the bottom of each...

We first saw the G5 Posey Challenger which was built by Group Five Ltd. at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  The G5 Posey Challenger was built as a tribute to Dodge and Trans Am racing history.  Back in the 70's Mr. Sam Posey's #77 T/A Challenger competed on the Trans Am racing circuit.  With his blessing his #77 T/A Challenger was recreated by Group Five using a new 2008 Dodge Challenger as a starting point.  For those who would like to see the vehicle it will be making an appearance at the 2009 LX & Beyond Nationals July 18-19 in Salem, Ohio at Quaker City Raceway.  The event will feature a midway with vendors, car show and drag...
