The folks over at Chrysler are expected to announce tomorrow at the NASCAR Pepsi 400 Nextel Cup race the Challenger will go into production and we could see it as early as 2008.  The announcement comes earlier then expected as most thought it would come sometime in the fall.  Many media types are not sure why they are letting the news out now but it’s widely speculated that Chrysler plans to promote the Challenger all Summer long to try and create more buzz about the vehicle.

The Challenger is expected to be offered in a V-8 platform only unlike the Ford Mustang which offers a V6 Model. Chrysler/Dodge plan to sell about 35,000 Challengers a year with the price tag being similiar to the Mustang GT.
