Another vehicle from Mopar, the Dodge Challenger Targa nicknamed “Samantha” is a full-blown competition car that raced and completed the infamous Targa Newfoundland race. “Samantha” started life as a Mopar Challenger drag race package car with most of the features coming from the Dodge Viper. The most noticeable feature has to be the snakeskin green paint which is not an original color to the Challenger . Under the hood lurks a 392 HEMI V8 Mopar crate motor producing 540 horsepower and 490 lb. of torque. The motor is mated to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, the engine blasts power to the rear wheels through a production 2009 modified gear ratio in the rear end.
Stopping this beast comes by way of Stop Tech brakes in the form of the six-piston calipers clamping 380 millimetre rotors, while in the rear, four pot calipers work with 355 mm rotors. Another unique feature includes a Mopar chin spoiler developed in a full scale wind tunnel to keep the front end down at high speeds. The race suspension and brake upgrades developed by KW came from a proven hero the Dodge Viper ACR, which just broke the production car lap record at the world renown Nurburgring in Germany. This goes to show you what Mopar parts can do to an otherwise stock Dodge Challenger.

Are you looking to add a few extra horses to your Challenger, well K&N has come through again with a high-flow intake system for your 2009 Dodge Challenger with the 3.5L V6. The K&N filter system (part#63-1117) increases horsepower by 11.68 hp at 6215 rpm over the stock Dodge Challenger intake configuration. To make the extra horses K&N replaces the Challenger’s original intake assembly; including the air box, air filter and intake tube with an all-new intake design. The new system draws air through a K&N High-Flow Air Filter that increases airflow and dirt capacity, and never needs to be replaced.
Protecting the chrome top cone-shaped air filter, and isolating it from engine heat, is a powder coated heat shield that replaces the Challenger’s stock air box. As it passes the filter, air travels through a K&N Roto-Molded Polyethylene Tube that is formed and shaped, in the design phase, to drive a more laminar flow of air to the Challenger’s 3.5L V6 engine.
The K&N filter system is part # 63-1117 with a price of $321.00 at Amazon and all other outlets where K&N products are sold. Installation is a breeze and can be done in 90 minutes or less. K&N Filters are back by the Million Mile Limited Warranty as all K&N OE Replacement Air Filters.
